Meet The Instructors

Michael Morris, Fuku Shihan

Sensei Michael established Mt. Si Karate in 2009 after more than twenty years of training at Karate West. He has been teaching karate for over twenty-five years & was awarded the title of Fuku Shihan (associate professor) in 2024. His favorite thing to do is to teach summer classes in the beautiful park outside at Si View. When he is not in the dojo, you can find him petting a puppy or cheering on the Seattle Kraken.

Kevin Cummings, Sensei

Sensei Kevin has been training at Mt. Si Karate for eight years, and lead instructing since 2022. He earned his second-degree black belt and was awarded the title of Sensei in 2024. He originally began training after seeing the opportunity to join his daughter in the experience. Sensei Kevin’s journey goes to show that you are never too old to start something new. When he is not at the dojo, Kevin enjoys spending time with his family and three Dachshunds.

Evelyn Brown, Sensei

Sensei Evelyn has been training at Mt. Si Karate since she was five years old and instructing since she was fourteen. She earned her second-degree black belt and was awarded the title of Sensei in 2024. Throughout her karate journey, Evelyn has gained confidence and learned the value of hard work and perseverance. When she is not at the dojo, she enjoys cooking, gardening, and spending time with her family.

Gabriella Vanover, Sensei

Sensei Gabriella has been training at Mt. Si Karate since 2014 and lead instructing since 2017. She earned her second-degree black belt and was awarded the title of Sensei in 2020. Although Gabriella is currently residing in Arizona, she still supports the school virtually & in the summers. When she is not at the dojo, she enjoys reading and hiking.
